You might be one of the hard-working millions who lost your job in '08/'09 and the hiring prospects are bleak. Or, you are weary of your work-day life and need a change to fuel your soul, jump start your heart, feed your mind.
Ask yourself: 1. do you really want to continue in your present field? 2. do you want to work for someone else? 3. can you morph your current experience/interestsinto a new business opportunity OR can you apply your experience/intereststo embark on a more adventurous/suitable career?
If you answered 'yes' to any one of these questions, then you are readyto embrace the philosophy of COOL VENTURES:
Work=Play/Passion Into Profit
Why work another day in your life, when you can do something you love? Find your passion and figure out how to get paid to pursue it.
There are 3 steps to Operation Fresh Start:
1. Make a list of your skills/talents 2. Make a list of your interests/hobbies/passions/loves 3. Find the points of intersection in lists 1. and 2.
For example, in 1. you list "management skills" and in 2. you list that you are "passionate about golf"-- For 3., consider this formula: "management skills" + "passionate about golf" = your new career: ~event planner for golf tournaments ~charity pro-golf organizer ~manage a golf club at a resort ~work with corporations to sponsor golf tournaments
Here's another example: 1. you have "sales, people skills" 2. you "love the outdoors/hate being cramped up/love to travel" 3. your alternative career/pursuit might be: ~small biz vendor at beach selling food/renting chairs/renting surfboards ~air brushed tattoo artist (no experience needed) on a cruise ship ~tour organizer for a major travel firm
Another example: 1. "computer skills/ web whiz" 2. "love flexible hours/seek independence" 3. your potential career or new small business might be: ~consultant to small to medium sized businesses re: web needs/ software upgrades/blogs/podcasts, etc.
Your turn, 1. make a list of your skills, talents, life/work experience 2. make a list of your passions/interests/desires/goals 3. find options/similarities/connections in lists 1. and 2. Translate them into a new small business for yourself or a new Cool Venture career.
You might not want to start your own independently-owned small business, but you can still have a COOL VENTURE~ take your current work experience and bring it to a cool company that will help you express yourself, be yourself and have fun every day.
This blog will explore options, directions, and opportunities to help you live the $$$$-making life you crave & need.
Two of my heroes, Andre & Coqueline Courrèges, have been rocking their Cool Venture since the Sixties.
Geometric & Space-Age design
Genius Andre Courrèges is the most plagiarized designer of his era. After M. Courrèges introduced his Space Age designs in 1964, the fashion world attempted to copy his angular plastic skirts and jackets, crash helmets, white boots, goggle accessories, to name just a few concepts.
That Andre Courrèges studied to be a civil engineer might account for his revolutionary expression: boxy silhouette styling. The clothes are triangles, trapezoids and squares in white/silver/aqua/orange/pink.
(Visionary Coqueline is driving the EXE, one of her many EV concepts.)
His clean, uncluttered couture captivated the fashion world, especially France, where he created the miniskirt. Couture Futurewas born. Fashion wasn't the only genre he conquered. Courrèges created some of the most enchanting fragrances of all time.
He and his wife, Coqueline, were two of the first eco-preneurs: The Maison de Courrèges, the fashion house run by André and Coqueline is a long-time promoter of EVs, using them in fashion shows since 1969. André and Coqueline Courrèges have produced a third fully-functional EV prototype, the Zooop, a lightweight car that can go 450 km (about 280 miles) per charge and uses "Lithium Polymer batteries that are lighter, have greater power density don't overheat, charge quicker and offer many more recharges" and can reach speeds of 180 km/h (about 112 mph), according to Gizmag.
The EXE is the second prototype of the electric car realized by Coqueline Courrèges , who has chosen lithium-ion for its performance. Battery voltage: 370V Battery capacity: 149 A/h

WELCOME
Variety. Fun. Spice. Alternatives. Choice. This blog focuses on cool moneymaking options for you to consider as you enter the work force, or as you face the grim prospect of starting over because your job –-for a wide variety of reasons--no longer exists.
There has never been a better time to take your interest/hobby/passion & turn it into a moneymaking, high-profit enterprise.
Some of the reasons to get into your own Cool Venture: 1. we are all aware that average total cost for college, fees, tuition, room and board are hovering at $30k a year. For many, college is not an option, and hey, who says that investing $120,000 in ‘education’ is any guarantee of a good job, or happiness?
2. we’ve all witnessed our parents/grandparents toiling away for a corporation, only to be dumped right before they were due to receive their pensions. There is no job security.
3. many of the jobs that were once plentiful—especially in the manufacturing & service sector—have been outsourced to other countries. They no longer exist.
4. the government, once a secure haven for workers, has also let its workforce down by shrinking budgets and dissolving departments.
5. nothing is secure. Nothing is certain. We don’t know what the Future has in store for any of us.
We’re not sure…but just in case, we only go around this planet once, let’s make it the best it can be. Why “work” for a living, when everyday doing something you love and feel passionate about, can be “play.”
Picasso said, the true definition of “Success” was when there is no line of demarcation between “work” and “play”.
It was Marsha Sinetar who coined the phrase, “do what you love, and the money will follow.” Whether you are interested in becoming a surfboard shaper, a lighting designer, a hair cutter, a personal chef, a NASCAR driver, web biz owner, inventor, or finding support to pursue your small business dream, this blog is for you.
It will outline & detail cool ventures currently available and demonstrate how to take a crisis or problem & transform it into a moneymaking opportunity.
A Cool Venture is a small business, fresh career, skilled trade or artistic pursuit. Some of the options to be covered might require additional training via trade, professional & vocational schools, internships or apprenticeships, while others are based on your life experience, and your current skills & talents. Please send an email to coolventures@live.com with your comments & questions. Let the games begin!
Picasso defined "Success" as "no line of demarcation between "work" and "play."
You've never heard of me, but thanks, Picasso, I humbly consider myself a 'success.'
I like it when people turn their passion into profit. This blog is dedicated to helping individuals get there by offering resources, solutions & strategies to turn hobbies, obsessions and interests into moneymaking opportunities.
I have worked "for the man" and I'll never do it again. When I was out of work, I made a list of 3 dream occupations. Then, I faced my limitations & cut the list to one option. It took some time to connect the dots but I figured out how to get paid to do something I love.
If you are unemployed or if you are just getting started in the work zone, I hope this blog gives you resources to help you make everyday Fresh, Fun & Spicey. Thank you for your interest. ~ Susie Rakowski in NYC.
